Winterizing a pond

first year to winterize, I have heard that you can run your filter to keep water moving and put a pvc pipe in pond to keep oxygen in and let carbon dioxide out, is this true or do I need a heater or de-icer…Pat

Winterizing a pond is a fairly simple procedure, but how it is done depends =”color: rgb(0, 0, 153);”>What climate zone is it located in?
How large and deep is it?
What kind of fish is it home to? Goldfish? Koi?
Does the area have predators (Owls, Hawks, Racoons)?
Are there decidious trees close by?
These factors all have to be taken into consideration when preparing the pond for the winter. In addition some preparations should be made now to assure easier start-up in the spring.
