We will be away in the winter

i live on Long Island in N.Y. and have a goldfish pond about5′ round and about 24 inches deep–we will be away for a month this winter–we have a heater for the water surface–can we disconnect the filter due to concern about pipes and hoses freezing–is there anything else we need to do to keep the fish healthy and alive–thank you for your time and info
