Stabilize PH balance

Question:

I have tried gallons of PH decreaser and PH buffer / stabilizer to lower the ph in our pond. No luck. Ph is around 8.2 to 8.5 after treatments. The water going into the pond is around 7.3. I have also tried replacing 25% of the water every day for a week, also no luck. I have emptied the pond, powerwashed, scrubbed walls, green cleaned three times during process and sucked pond dry. After about 5 days Ph is around 9.0. The fish are doing well, the plants not so well. I have field rocks in the pond, none are limestone. Could this be the problem? The pump we are using is 850 gph thru a bio filter, also have 450 gph pump on the fountain. Pond is approx. 850 gallon. We have 9 goldfish in the 2 to 8 inch range. The rocks and side walls get a green scale like coating on them after awhile. Green clean will clean up the rocks. Any suggestions?

Answer:

Be sure to test you pH levels in the morning at about the same time to get an accurate reading. pH naturally increases through out the day. Also check your water that you are using to fill up or top off your pond with. Tap water usually has high pH. Adjusting your pH can take quite some time, being that each treatment generally = “https://www.pondmarket.com/catalog/index.cfm/product/297/crystalclear-phusion.cfm” >granular pH decreaser. Like I said, every pond is different, so you might have to do some experimenting to find out what works for you and your pond.
